2010 M.I.C.A.H Award Ceremony
On Saturday, January 30, 2010, the Pioneer Valley Project held its annual MICAH Award Ceremony. It was again held at Sinai Temple in Springfield. For the 2010 Ministry Community Action Honoree (MICAH) Award Dinner, the initial challenge was to review for inclusivity the MICAH that PVP had been using in previous ceremonies. We decided to use a more modern and more inclusive version of the Micah 6:8 passage. We used: "God has shown you what is good and what does God require of you but to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God"
This year there were twelve honorees from eleven member organizations. The honorees were chosen because they had lives that exemplified the meaning of Micah 6:8. The community selected people from across the age span, as well as other indicators. Some who were chosen were mostly involved within their own groups. Others had broader involvements our in the greater community. Most had involvements in a variety of areas. The MICAH dinner serves as the occasion for the members of PVP can elect the members of the the Board for PVP. Melinda Pellerin Duck was elected President for 2010 - 2011. Over 200 people attended the event and the dinner was prepared and served by Cocina Chiapeneca. »
